Welcome to the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter ASPE Website

President's Report
 June 2009

We are now in our last month of the DFW ASPE Year as June 30 marks the end of the 2008-2009 ASPE Year. We will have a great meeting the month of June with Sioux Chief being our sponsor. This will be followed by July off for vacation and then we get started again with our August Technical meeting.

I would like to take a little time to reflect upon what we have accomplished in 2008-2009.

·         Provided first ever DFW ASPE Scholarship

·         Conducted our most successful Product Show

·         We increased our technical meeting membership average attendance. YTD May 2009 our average attendance combined is 96 of which 60 are engineers/designers or contractors. This is by far the highest average attendance by any ASPE Chapter in the country.

·         We have initiated the first ever CPD reimbursement program by an ASPE Chapter.

·         We have maintained our fiscal responsibility to our membership by keeping our treasury strong while participating in many career development and social activities.

·         We have maintained a strong Plumbing Education program where we conduct 3 design classes over the course of the year. Its value is echoed by the increased attendance by a more diverse group of attendees. We are providing education to inspectors, contractors, and designers.

I want to send a special thank you to a few people in our Chapter that have been working extremely hard to make our chapter a success. Mike Danielson of Reed Wells Benson and Larry Bartlett have put together some of the best design classes we have ever had in the history of ASPE. Mike has been a solid contributor over the years and I want to say Thank You to Mike and Larry. Also, I want to recognize Dennis Wilson of Aguirre Roden for his leadership and guidance in our Casino Night event as well as his constant tutelage of me. The other person I would like to single out is James Walls. James has been a solid contributor and the organizer of our golf tournaments for the past few years.

We are blessed with excellent members. Although our membership is lower than it should be, it is solid. We have put together one of the best organizations in the country and have been able to increase our revenue and ability to give back to our community and our membership. I am proud to have been part of the leadership over the past 2 years and I look forward to making my last year as President a memorable one. My #1 goal is to increase our membership to 300 members by June 30, 2010. Another objective is to establish our fall product show and golf tournament as one of the best events in the land. With this being said, we have secured the Ruthie Jackson Convention Center in Grande Prairie for our event this October.

We have several great events coming up that everyone needs to be aware of.

June 23 & 24, 2009 Technical Meeting

October 1, 2009 DFW ASPE Product Show

October 2, 2009 DFW ASPE Fall Golf Classic

Please check out our Calendar of Events on our website at www.dfwaspe.org. We have lots of events coming up.

I would like to thank our Sponsors who have signed up for sponsorships of the DFW ASPE and Satellite Chapters in Tulsa and Lubbock. Thank You to Kohler Company, Dillard and Associates, North Texas Sales (2 packages), Lubrizol, Mayco Sales and Park Environmental for already signing up for 2009! We are looking for greater support in 2009. Our goal is to have at least 12 sponsors for the 2009 calendar year. Check out our Sponsorship Opportunities link on our website (www.dfwaspe.org). What is unique about our packages is that you actually have the ability to save your company money on our annual events while gaining the advertisement, exposure, relationship building opportunity, and educational opportunities that create bottom line results for your company. It is the continued support and reciprocal results that have helped to strengthen our organization and help make our Chapter one of the Best in the Country.

If you have not gone out to the ASPE national website (www.aspe.org) then you are missing out. Check out the National Website and update your contact information. Have you received the new ASPE Pipeline newsletter? This is a great step in the right direction for National and we are excited about the future of ASPE. We must all do our part to make our chapter successful. I want to thank all that have been involved with volunteering for the board and providing support in other ways to our Chapter.

We continue to look for volunteers to help us achieve our goals and conduct our events to the high professional standards that I am certain our members want. If you are interested in volunteering for our events, please give me a call or email so we can discuss.

See you all at the June Meetings!
